Just because you can't think of a model that doesn't have a particle with spin 2 and is consistent doesn't mean it isn't possible. Just think if that was are attitude about the michelson-morely experiment -ooops. You are probably right that there is a very strong bias for it being spin 0- but its the data that will tell us this not some theoretical prejudice..<br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2846514233477399562.post-53769368629109764952013-03-12T20:26:29.127+01:002013-03-12T20:26:29.127+01:00Hi Jester, this is Alain. Well sorry, to invisible final states. Those 'invisibles' cannot be neutrinos that we know, that branching fraction has to be very very close to zero. But a signal in this channel would almost certainly point to a dark matter candidate. The fact that an LHC experiment could do that search -- and it looks quite clean actually -- was really unexpected. Thinking about how this will extrapolate puts a further dent in the prospects of the ILC to do better than these LHC superheros. The excess in that channel alone is only 2 sigma. Only when they combine that with WW, tau-tau, and gamma-gamma they get a 3 sigma excess.
