Winter @ CERN

Winter has finally arrived in the region. It should be noted that CERN is not only the greatest particle physics laboratory on Earth but, first of all, the greatest ski club in the Alps. In the coming days the CERN productivity is expected to drop down dramatically, unlike the rate of knee injuries. Officials ensure that LHC schedule is not endangered, for the moment.

Btw. Does anybody here remember Gargamelle? Those were the days ;-)

  1. Nice blog, good idea. Shall I ask to put a link to the TH home page?

  2. Why not? But beware: hardly anybody reads the physics posts. Most of the visitors just click on the photo of Ben Alanach in an underwear ;-)

  3. Gargamelle is the one to the left in your picture,I believe. But I always liked the larger one to the right better, probably because it looks like a spaceship out of a 50s SF flick, maybe a precursor to the lunar landers. What's that one called?

  4. That one is the BEBC (Big European Bubble Chamber). As far as I know, it is not involved in any glorious history. Anyway, with a name like this it simply couldn't make a carreer.
